Did you know that the decibels (db) scale is a logarithm one? (if still this does not ring a bell look at the viz below). Thus, a small change in decibels represents a significant increase in the loudness levels impacting your hearing function (e.g. from 85 to 86). Hearing loss is also impacted by the duration of the exposure, thus a rule-of-thumb you should not be exposed more than 8 hours of a maximum of 85 db.
